Long Rod Kits:
Have features that offer advantages for performance
and durability that surpass standard short rod kits. The advantages
are:
- A lighter piston, shorter compression height
- Lighter pins (.990 vs. 1.093)
- Lighter connecting rods (BB Chevy vs. BB
Chrysler)
- Less wear on the cylinders, the piston stays
higher up in the bore putting less stress on the thrust side and on
stroke motors pistons speed increases and a lighter bobweight helps
to reduce wear.
- Better dwell time at TDC and BDC for tuning.
- Easier to balance without extra heavy metal.
- Less total reciprocation weight, saves on
harmonics, crank and bearing wear.
