Innovative New Design!!!
Your request for a lightweight yet durable crankshaft for the powerful big
block Chevy engine has been answered. Callies’ design team has optimized
material distribution throughout this crankshaft to produce a component that is
strong yet easy to balance.
Many BBC crankshafts are counterweighted to offset simple balance forces
detected at main bearings 1 and 5 by today’s precision balancers. Callies Magnum
Mass Correct counterweights have been strategically placed to reduce imbalance
forces over the entire length of the shaft. The result is a crankshaft that
exhibits superior bearing life and minimal wear.
Material distribution over the rod journal arms and critical strength generating
regions of Magnum BBC crankshafts has been enhanced as well. These slight design
changes improve the strength to weight ratio ensuring each Magnum crank will
have an extended fatigue-resistant life.
Our Dual Arc leading edges create a unique counterweight that is beneficial in
the reduction of disruptive crankcase windage. This profile characteristic is of
greatest value in high RPM, large displacement engines.
A typical 4.500 stroke BBC shaft will have a finished weight of 69 lbs. All rod
journals are drilled with generously radiused lightening holes. Each
counterweight features Callies’ (Dual Arc) windage reducing leading edge. |

MAGNUM - Small Block Chevy
Magnum cranks feature all 4 rod journals Angalite
drilled and gun drilled mains. Counterweights are shaped with bullnose
profile on our 4340 forging and are available in a 2 piece flange style.
Magnum cranks feature Callies PERMA-TOUGH heat treating. Typical weight is
47-51 pounds before balancing, depending on stroke, main and rod journal
sizes. All Magnum cranks are available with a big block post. |

MAGNUM - Big Block Chevy
Magnum big block cranks are intended for the most
demanding applications. Fully counterweighted, all of our big
block Magnum cranks feature Callies PERMA-TOUGH heat treat
process. All big block Magnum rod journals are Angalite drilled,
mains are gun drilled and fully profiled for superior
performance. Dual 1/4 " keyways are standard.
Special Options: We offer special keyway
configurations and larger than standard flange and post hole
options for an additional charge. |

MAGNUM - Small Block LS1
Callies LS1 crankshafts are machined from premium
4340 forgings. All 4 rod journals are Angalite drilled and the
mains are gun drilled. The LS1 features PERMA-TOUGH heat
treating for added strength and serviceability. Our 4.000 stroke
shafts with 1850 gram or less bob weight are sold rough balanced
with heavy metal and reluctor ring installed. (Special Options
available - please call) All 4.250 inch and under Stroke LSx
Crankshafts will Balance Internally without Added Heavy Metal up
to 1785 gm Bob Weight. Additional Rough or Finish Balance fees
