Callies COMPSTAR Crankshafts
SB Chevy and LS1
COMPSTAR Crankshafts are designed by Callies engineers and are rough machined to Callies
specs on 4340 material forgings, then finished in house.
Beginning with the properly placed counterweights that not only
improve balance but reduce bearing loads, every aspect of these highly
stressed components has been analyzed. The forgings are rough machined
in a process that includes double street relief operations that make
these crankshafts dimensionally stable. Hardened with a deep nitride,
Compstar cranks are ideal for abusive dirt track environments. All rod
journals are drilled and counterweights are profiled for piston
clearance. |

Tips
We do NOT recommend the following:
-
Driving on your damper with a
mallet
-
Using timing sprockets with more
than 3 keyways
-
Balancing externally
-
Welding on or attaching weights
-
Storing your crank without a
protective bag & rust inhibitor
-
Assembly without physically
checking rod and main bearing clearances
-
The use of straight weight oils
without an oil pan heater
|
Most SBC's will internally balance without expensive heavy metal. |
