Cast Iron Race Block
Important features of the Merlin race block:
Reinforced bulkheads & main webs
Thicker decks
Priority main oiling system
100% compatibility w/Mark IV components
This block offers 454 cubic inches right out of the box and can be
worked up to 622 cu.in.! This high density block can be bored to
4.625" and also features splayed 4-bolt nodular iron main caps, ARP
bolts, indexed lifter bores, and cyl wall clearance for 4.375" stroke
crank. |

Merlin Lite - Aluminum

Superior Strength 357-T7 Aluminum
The major benefit of the Merlin Lite Block is, of course, it's light
weight. It weighs about 125 lbs. less than a comparable cast iron
block.
The Merlin Lite Block is cast out of dense, durable aluminum alloy
that is both rugged and easy to repair. It includes special design
features such as diagonal bracing in the valley and head bolt/stud
bosses, reinforced lifter bores and solid bulkheads. |

material everywhere allowing professional engine builders the ability
to finish to their specifications.
This is the block that's been the foundation of many Pro Stock, Pro
Mod, Top Dragster, tractor pull and offshore marine power plant over
the years. And even though it's bred for racing, the Merlin Pro Block
accepts all Chevy factory Mark IV components. Whether it's a race car,
